COMPLAINING IS DRAINING!

Did you know that it only takes a minute for most people to complain during a typical conversation?

So in your next exchange of words look out for the grumble, gripe, grievance or finding fault and listen carefully as it could be you!

To have that moan and whinge for some people feels good triggering an enjoyability factor, however; "Quit your jibber jabber fool as complaining isn’t good for you!"

As your brain loves to be organised, when you repeat a behaviour its cells reach out to each other to ease the flow of information making it much easier to repeat that behaviour to the point that you may not even realise you’re doing it!

Brain cells that fire together wire together and by repeating complaining rewires your brain to make future complaining more likely.  Over time you will find it’s much easier to be negative than to be positive, regardless of what’s happening around you.   Complaining becomes your default behaviour, which in turn changes how people perceive you!

Constant nit picking and finding fault can damage other areas of your brain shrinking the hippocampus, an area of the brain responsible for processing of long term memory and your emotional responses.  It is a unique shape, a bit like a horseshoe and is also responsible for memory of locations of objects or people.  We wouldn’t even remember where we lived without the sterling work of the hippocampus!

It is one of the primary brain areas destroyed by Alzheimers.  So not only is having a bitch potentially causing brain damage it also has a negative on your body releasing the stress hormone cortisol.

Cortisol raises your blood pressure and blood sugar so you will be prepared to either escape or defend yourself!

But all the extra cortisol released by frequent complaining impairs your immune system and makes you more susceptible to high cholesterol, diabetes, heart disease, and obesity. It even makes the brain more vulnerable to strokes.

So it seems that the more you complain about your problems, the more problems you will have to complain about!

The challenge is to go 24 hours without complaining  - not even once and then watch how your life starts changing for the better!

Have a great day!
