PUG AT FIRST SIGHT

Until we got out first Pug I had never had a dog before and never thought I could love something so much that wasn’t another human being – but it was Pug at first sight and now I couldn’t imagine not having them -  having added another pug to our family unit!

Pugs are a wonderful dog and make the best pet ever!

Here’s why ……..

Pugs are happy and affectionate, loyal, playful, charming and mischievous.  They are very intelligent and thrive on human companionship being your best friend forever.

Pugs are known as the clowns of the canine world because they have a great sense of humour and like to show off. Pugs love to be the centre of attention and are heartsick if ignored.

High spirited and at times wilful which can make training challenging until you get the treats out!

Some dogs are picky eaters... but not pugs who will eat anything! While the Pug's first love is human attention, their second love is food. These dogs love to eat, eat, eat. They are incredibly clever, particularly when it comes to gaining access to more food. Don’t let the sad wrinkly forehead and mournful eyes fool you into overfeeding them. They will try!  This, combined with their small stature, puts them at risk for obesity and prone to breathing problems means you shouldn’t let your pug become overweight.

Light sleepers may want to invest in a pair of ear plugs as pugs wheeze, snort and snore - loudly.

They are a low-maintenance chilled companion, making them ideal for all ages.

They always look confused... but that's what makes them adorable.

Don't expect a Pug to hunt, guard or retrieve!

They are more content to sit in your lap as you read a book or watch a movie.

Their compact package belies a great deal of energy, so expect to be entertained with some goofy antics if your Pug doesn't get a walk or some playtime.

Their coat is short and smooth however be warned pugs shed like crazy, especially in summer.   A monthly bath is sufficient and the Pug's small size is handy and they seem to love it!

They get away with everything You just can’t help but forgive those sad puppy eyes

Perhaps one of the most famous farter of them all, the pug has been known to blast the butt tuba both when asleep and awake. Worst of all is when they let out thunder from down under sometimes so loudly, they scare themselves.

They are unbelievably loyal!

So pugs and kisses to this beautiful breed!
